Beneath the plot of two lovers blessed/cursed with a spell of total sympathetic feeling, VHO unearthed the deeper story: can our striving for total empathy alienate us from a more human simplicity? VHO presented the American Premiere in 2017 of the unknown masterpiece “Sympathy”, with a hiphop dance crew bringing Rameau’s dance rhythms to new life.
