Thomas Hammons, Bass-Baritone

Legendary bass-baritone Thomas Hammons is renowned for bringing depth and a joyful wit to his repertoire of over 60 roles. A staple at the Metropolitan Opera (over 250 performances),  he is equally at home in the buffo roles of Mozart and Rossini, in Puccini and Wagner, and in contemporary music.  He created the role of Henry Kissinger in the World Premiere of Nixon in China (John Adams), subsequently performing it in Amsterdam, Paris, Frankfurt, Los Angeles, with the Canadian Opera Company, Cincinnati Opera, Opera Colorado, and Vancouver Opera. He also sang in the inaugural performances of The Death of Klinghoffer at several houses internationally. His performances of these two works can be heard on the Nonesuch label.
