Rising star tenor Victor Ryan Robertson brings a thrilling vigor combined with effortless technical aplomb to every role he takes on.

He recently returned to The Metropolitan Opera for a critically acclaimed season as Elijah Mohammed in X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X, having previously appeared at the Met in The Merry Widow. Victor performed in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Sarasota Opera, and starred in Champion with Opéra de Montréal, a role he premiered and has also sung with the Opera Theatre of St. Louis and Opera Parallele.  Another signature role is Sportin’ Life in Porgy and Bess, a role he has performed with the L.A. Opera, Syracuse Opera, Dallas Opera, Deutsche Oper Berlin, throughout Australia, in London, Edinburgh, and Cardiff with the Cape Town Opera, and at Spoleto Festival USA. Mr. Robertson first earned critical acclaim as Rodolfo in Baz Luhrman’s adaptation of La Bohèmea role he has also sung at the Royal Albert Hall in London in Francesca Zambello’s production. Victor has also performed with Opera Hong Kong, Minnesota Opera, Arizona Opera, Dallas Opera, Atlanta Opera, Opéra National de Lorraine, and New York City Opera, among many others. He starred as Rinaldo in VHO’s Armida, and in UNSUNG. Victor can be heard as Alfredo in VHO’s recording of Verdi’s La Traviata. He is also featured on the soundtrack to the Netflix film Rustin.
